The data from the State of Mississippi was digitized from USGS quad sheets and provided by the State of Mississippi. Special Surveys and areas that were not part of the original public lands survey were originally included in the PLSS data set. These areas were reclassified as possible into more correct feature classes and standard naming and coding were added to the data set. Areas around water bodies need to be further verified. Data from the BLM was captured by USFS and BLM and computed using the BLM’s GMM program. The data was then best fit to the State of Mississippi on the boundaries. Data from counties were used to update PLSS polygons and provide second division polygons where possible |
