Service Description: This feature class houses road centerlines for the State of Mississippi, attributed with Street Name. This was created as part of the MDEM Transportation Project initiated by Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. The Road_Segment layer used for this project was provided by the Mississippi Department of Transportation. Original names gathered were collected by MDOT as they built the roads. Additional street names were collected from different sources such as County Street Centerline Data & Mississippi 811, formally Mississippi One Call data. At times public data such as Google Map, Yahoo Map were also used to cross verify.
